I just wanted to show you this little vignette of vintage trim and metallic threads from Tinsel Trading, the colours are just beautiful. Also included is my new acquisition from France, a fève from Caussade. I kept seeing these little figurines at vide greniers and then I learnt they are used in epiphany pies. I love this tradition. These are pies baked for Epiphany which falls on January 6th, the twelfth day after Christmas. The youngest child at the 'feast' hides under the table while the pie is cut into enough pieces for each guest. The youngest child then chooses which piece of pie goes to each guest. The guest who finds the trinket in their piece of pie becomes the Queen (or King) for the day and they must wear a crown. (I'm not sure if that is entirely true, but I think if you are going to be royal for a day, you may as well wear a crown!) All I need to do now is learn how to make a frangipane pie..... and to not lose my fève.
