Helen has begun a new project, straight from the pages of the latest Simply Vintage magazine (issue 18). Using a Mediterranean Hexagon template, she has chosen a fabric with little cars, vans, and bikes, and then has matched this to a blue/grey fabric with a fine spot. The plain brick red complements the little cars while giving the pattern a rest. The background larger spot complements all of the colours of the car fabric. The pattern in the magazine is made using quite an eclectic mix of 'old and new' fabrics while I think Helen's quilt is looks clearer, more considered, and perfect for a child's quilt. This is a great way to show how your own ideas and choices of fabrics can transform the look of an entire pattern. We are looking forward to the progression of her project. No pressure Helen, (I'll just keep asking you relentlessly how it is going).
